Joanne is Senior Loan Officer with Shelter Home Mortgage (formerly Fairfield Mortgage). She began her career as a mortgage originator in 1988 and has helped over 3,000 families secure financing for their new home. Since 1988, Joanne has seen interest rates as high as 13%, and participated in a industry that has evolved from overly strict guidelines to one that now has the ability to view borrowers on a more individualized basis. Her focus is to offer the best loan available for that borrower’s needs. Joanne is a graduate of Xinnix Academy of Mortgage Excellence. She feels fortunate that her "job" is one she continues to enjoy.
While still in high school, Joanne began working as an assistant in her mother’s residential construction and development company. Her daily activities and interaction with buyers gave her a first hand knowledge of the emotional involvement people experience when purchasing a home. A career in real estate both home building and the mortgage industry followed.
Born in Syracuse, NY, Joanne is the oldest of 9 children, a graduate of LeMoyne College and has her Masters degree from Syracuse University. Joanne and her daughters moved to Atlanta in 1986 in search of a warmer climate and the employment opportunities offered by Atlanta. It was their grand adventure – no real plans, no job, just a lot of optimism and faith in the future. Today, Atlanta is still home for all of her growing family including three grandchildren.
When not at work, Joanne enjoys spending time with her family here in Atlanta as well as all those in Syracuse. She is an avid tennis fan, follow the Atlanta Braves and loves vintage cars. Her favorite charities include Children’s Miracle Network and Autism Speaks.
